KHQA-TV Account Executive 

PURPOSE: An Account Executive for KHQA-TV is a professional, commissioned employee with adequate education and experience to exhibit the ability to effectively service existing advertising clients, as well as continually endeavor to develop new advertising clientele for the station. Key to the generation of revenue for the station is the ability to communicate in a positive and productive manner with the various departments of the station to coordinate a final on-air advertising package that our advertising clientele are exceedingly satisfied with.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED(The following examples are not intended to be all inclusive. Any one position will require that the staff member be prepared to perform any other related work as assigned.)

1. Development of specialized advertising packages targeted to specific businesses or business types which appeal to a variety of existing and new advertising clientele.

2. Prepare and effectively present proposals to various advertising clientele on a daily basis.

3. Initiate regular meaningful contact with non-advertising, potential clientele to gather information which can be used to prepare proposals for advertising with the station which the clientele will find beneficial to the function of their business.

4. Assist clientele with planning the production of commercial spots to air and coordinating those plans with Creative Services staff and all other relevant station personnel.

5. Assist clientele with planning the advertising schedule most appropriate to the purpose of their business/service and coordinating those plans with Traffic staff and all other relevant station personnel.

6. Planning with the clientele the collection of payment for the advertising billing, maintaining a working relationship with the clientele that remains within the parameters of station credit and collection policies.

7. Meaningful follow up with advertising clientele to assure that the production, scheduling and billing of the purchased advertising exceeded their level of expectation and will result in further advertising schedules purchased with the station.

8. Promote a positive, professional image of KHQA-Television to the viewing public, clientele and potential clientele through participation in community events and special projects.

9. Provide the Traffic Department and the Business Office with all scheduling and billing information on a daily basis.

10. Reporting and analysis of the status of the advertisers assigned in a manner consistent with the requirements of the management of KHQA-TV, understanding that the specifics of those requirements set forth by management will change routinely. (Including, but not limited to, Advertiser Overviews and Projections, Budget and Budget Variance Analysis, Special Promotions Reporting, etc.)

KHQA-TV Internships

KHQA offers unpaid internships to college students, preferably in their Junior or Senior year. You must receive credit from your college in order to qualify for an internship. Internships are unpaid, which is why you must receive college credit in order to work as an intern at KHQA.

Internships are offered in the following departments at KHQA-TV:
News – Carol Sowers, Executive News Director
Creative – Steve Buckman, Creative Services

We will work with you to develop a schedule that meets your needs, as well as the Station's needs. The number of hours/length of time you work at KHQA will be determined by the specific requirements of your college.
You are encouraged to submit your information early for internships. In order to apply for an internship, you should send:

1) Resume, 2) Letter of application explaining what department you would like to work and why you want to work at KHQA, 3) a letter on your college letterhead stating that you will receive college credit for the internship, and 4) any other relevant information, such as writing samples, videotape, etc.
