Mike Cole
Chief Meteorologist

School: Mississippi State
Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

Mike Cole, the newest member of the 7 Storm Team, is a native of St. Louis, Mo. He currently resides in Shelby County, Mo. with family who has lived there since 1999.

Mike originally graduated from the University of Kansas in 1992 with a BSJ degree. He majored in Advertising. Several years later, he decided to pursue a weatherman dream he had for some time and went back to school through Mississippi State's Broadcast Meteorology Program. He completed that education in 2004, earning his Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology. In 2008, Mike earned the American Meteorological Society's Broadcast Seal of Approval. Mike is a current member of the American Meteorology Society.

Mike first worked on-air as a weatherman at KVHP-TV in Lake Charles, La. in 2003. He then went to WTVO in Rockford, Ill. in 2004 and spent five years on-air there, the last three serving as the Meteorologist on the morning news. In 2011, Mike went to KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas where he served a dual role as Chief Meteorologist and evening news co-anchor. He says living in West Texas was quite interesting, but he is now thrilled to be back home in the Tri-States region.

Mike enjoys playing golf, reading, following St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and hearing your fascinating stories about wildlife you’ve encountered … and of course hearing all about your weather experiences. Mike has one son, Grant, who is a stand-out baseball player and makes him very proud. Mike looks forward to serving the viewers of KHQA-TV in the years to come.
