One Mans Junk...

Free Stuff In Quincy is growing strong, with 200 plus members since forming May 22, 2007. No task is too large for our group members. In July of 2007 we held our first Free-Bee sale, where the community could receive items absolutely FREE.
Now we have expanded our services with the addition of an emergency pantry available to all Free Stuff In Quincy group members meeting criteria supporting need. We currently need your help in stocking our emergency pantry. Thank you to Sherwin Williams who donated 5 gallons of paint so we could brighten our emergency pantry.
New items we are in need of are in the following categories with some examples:
Baby Supplies (diapers, shampoo, bottles, etc.), Cleaning Supplies (dish and hand soap, Pine-Sol, glass cleaner, furniture polish, etc.), Durable Medical Equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, and canes), First Aid: (Adult and Children’s Tylenol, Band-Aids, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, triple antibiotic ointment, cotton balls, ace wraps, etc.), Paper Goods: (paper towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, etc.), Personal Hygiene: (bath soap, shampoo, conditioner, nail clippers, combs, brushes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, feminine pads, tampons, shaving cream, hand sanitizer, etc.), Pet Supplies: (canned dog and cat food, puppy pads, cat litter, etc.)
We are also in need of 2 shelving units to match the one we recently acquired at Big Lots (white 5 shelf book case, $25.00), a hanging light fixture, a metal rack that hangs off the wall to hang clothing on (like the ones in motels rooms with the shelf above it), and 8 to 10 white shelves of various sizes with brackets and tracks that hang on the wall.
Other projects we are working on are collecting adult and children size Halloween costumes for distribution to those who need them. An other big project we have under taken, is collecting homecoming and prom dresses, guys formal wear and accessories to give to those in need of dresses for high school events. They can keep them, or return them to us to put back into use for other people. We have a sister site that are opening a Working Woman’s Clothing Pantry, which will assist woman who are getting back into the work force with work appropriate clothing. We are collecting school supplies on an ongoing basis for distribution at schools when needed. We are also collecting coats, hats, mittens, and scarves that will be donated to a Quincy area church for the members who need them.
