Quincy based company Consolidated Brands participated in the 25th annual American Royal “Sauce of the Planet” competition with the American Royal “World Series of Bar-B-Cue” at Kemper Arena Kansas City, Missouri on October 6th and 7th, 2012. Results were announced at the invitational awards ceremony on October 5th, and Lickins X-tra Thick Competition Style BBQ Sauce took 1st in Tomato/Hot category, and won the coveted “Best Sauce on the Planet” award for 2012. For sauce manufacturers, this is the most prestigious award that can be won, with hundreds of sauces competing for it. Sauces were judged on appearance, texture, and taste. Lickins Brand BBQ Products, a Red Cactus Brand, is distributed by Consolidated Brands, Value Merchandising/Division of AWG, KEHE Specialty Foods, and Kohl Wholesale. Currently it can be found in stores throughout central Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa.
