MACOMB, ILL. -- Macomb drivers might notice smoother roads in the near future.

Macomb city council members vote Monday night on road reconstruction bids. These projects would resurface busy streets as well as make the intersection at Bower and Highway 136 safer.

Local construction companies submitted the project bids. These projects add up to $3,000,000 of reconstruction.

Funds will come through a local option sales tax and grant money from Bower Manufacturing.

The projects include paving three blocks along N. Ward, paving eight blocks along E. Carroll, lining 16 manholes around the city, and working on the Bower Road and Highway 136 intersection.

Macomb's city administrator said this is only the beginning of reconstruction projects. The current proposed projects are expected to be finished by summer.
