MONTROSE, IOWA -- An early morning fire at the Montrose coal plant  has temporarily shut down operations at Hendricks River Logistics, LLC.

The Daily Gate City says four fire departments responded to the fire in the company's conveyer system off Mississippi River Road, just south of Montrose. According to Montrose Fire Chief Jim Briggs, the call came in around 6 a.m.

Close to 25 firefighters responded to the scene, including crews from Jackson Township, Keokuk Fire, and Des Moines Township. No workers were injured as a result of the fire. One firefighter did go the hospital with back pain.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Daily Gate reports no coal was involved in the fire. The company's operations will be shut down until the conveyer system can be repaired.
