Question Why use American Hometown Services for carpet cleaning? Answer
- No Harsh Chemicals
- No Abrasive Brushes
- Complete Deep-Down Cleaning
- Leaves Less Residue
- Recommended By Leading Fiber Producers and Carpet Mills
- Contributes to a Healthier Indoor Environment
Question What are the Facts about Carpet Cleaning? Answer FACT#1 - Over ninety percent of the Professional Carpet Cleaners use Hot Water Extraction (Steam) Cleaning as their primary methods for residential carpet cleaning.
FACT#2 - No carpet cleaning method removes all soiling. Hot Water Extraction (Steam) Cleaning, when done properly by a trained, certified professional cleaner, is the most effective carpet cleaning method for removing the greatest percentage of soiling.
FACT#3 - No carpet cleaning method leaves no cleaning solution or moisture residue. Hot Water Extraction is the only method that uses water to freely rinse cleaning solutions from the carpet the same way you use water to rinse your fabrics when they are cleaned in a clothes washer. Hot Water Extraction, used properly, leaves the least amount of residue behind after cleaning.
FACT#4 - Hot Water Extraction contributes to a healthier indoor environment by extracting soil, pollutants, allergens, and sources of bacteria and odor to the outside.
FACT#5 - Many so called "dry" carpet cleaning methods mix their cleaning chemical with water. Other "dry" cleaning chemicals contain strong solvent chemicals which may actually be harmful if used improperly. Most "dry" cleaning methods are primarily recommended by fiber producers and carpet mills for appearance maintenance cleaning only of commercial carpets.
FACT#6 - Today's "Vacuum Balanced" Hot Water Extraction Cleaning not only is the most effective method of doing the best job of cleaning carpets, it dries faster than ever before, usually within 4 hours.
Question Can some carpet cleaning methods actually hurt my carpets? Answer The cleaning technician doing the work is always the key to safe effective cleaning of carpets. Dry powder cleaning methods can use harsh chemical solvents mixed with ground up corn cob that can build up in your carpet causing excessive wear. Carbonated Chemical Dry Cleaning (Spin-Bonnet) uses an abrasive spinning pad which when misused, can cause your carpets to untwist and pull apart at the seams. There is no physical vacuum extraction so much of the chemical can be left in your carpeting. Question Does American Hometown Services use excessive amounts of chemical to clean my carpet? Answer The American Hometown Services method depends primarily upon natural hot water and vacuum extraction to clean the carpet. This eliminates the need for massive amounts of chemicals, solvents, and carbonation used in some other methods. The AHS method leaves the least amount of chemical and soil residues so there is no threat of premature wear, airborne contamination, or rapid re-soiling. Question Will my carpets stay cleaner longer after it is cleaned? Answer Unlike some other cleaning methods which can actually leave behind soil attracting residues, the American Hometown Services method of cleaning carpets will make your carpets look, smell, and feel better longer than factory fresh carpets. AHS method of cleaning will actually extend the life of your carpet and contribute to a cleaner and healthier indoor environment for your family. Question Why is mold growing in my home? Answer Molds are part of the natural environment. Outdoors, molds play a part in nature by breaking down dead organic matter such as fallen leaves and dead trees, but indoors, mold growth should be avoided.
Molds reproduce by means of tiny spores; the spores are invisible to the naked eye and float through outdoor and indoor air.
Mold may begin growing indoors when mold spores land on surfaces that are wet. There are many types of mold, and non of them will grow without water or moisture.
Question Can mold cause health problems? Answer Molds are usually not a problem indoors, unless mold spores land on a wet or damp spot and begin growing. Molds have the potential to cause health problems. Molds produce allergens (substances that can cause allergic reactions), irritants, and in some cases, potentially toxic substances (mycotoxins).
Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Allergic responses include hay fever-type symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash (dermatitis). Allergic reactions to mold are common. They can be immediate or delayed. Molds can also cause asthma attacks in people with asthma who are allergic to mold. In addition, mold exposure can irritate the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs of both allergic and non-allergic people. Symptoms other than the allergic and irritant types are not commonly reported as a result of inhaling mold.
Research on mold and health effects is ongoing. This webpage provides a brief overview;it does not describe all potential health effects related to mold exposure. For more detailed information consult a health professional. You may also wish to consult your state or local health department.
Question How do I get rid of mold? Answer It is impossible to get rid of all mold and mold spores indoors; some mold spores will be found floating though the air and in house dust. The mold spores will not grow if moisture is not present. Indoor mold growth can and should be prevented or controlled by controlling moisture indoors .
If there is mold growth in your home, you must clean up the mold and fix the water problem. If you clean up the mold, but don't fix the water problem, then most likely, the mold problem will come back.
Mold can gradually destroy the things they grow on.
You can prevent damage to your home and furnishings, save money, and avoid potential health problems by controlling moisture and eliminating mold growth.
