QUINCY, ILL. -- An 18-year-old Quincy man was hospitalized after he was shot with a Taser gun during an altercation with a police officer.
Dillon Ellis of the 1000 block of North Second Street, is charged with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest after 5:50 p.m. incident Sunday near the intersection of 4th and Cherry streets.
A Quincy Police officer approached Ellis during a burglary investigation when he learned that Ellis was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court, according to a press release from the Quincy Police Department.
Ellis ran away from the officer, the release says. The officer grabbed Ellis and the two had a brief struggle and fell to the ground.
Ellis punched the officer in the head, the release says. The officer shot Ellis with the Taser gun and took him into custody, according to the release.
The officer, whose name wasn't released, suffered minor cuts and abrasions. Ellis was taken to Blessing Hospital to have the two Taser probes removed.
Ellis remains in custody at the Adams County Jail.
