QUINCY, ILL. -- One of the three men wanted in a break-in and stabbing at the Bel-Aire Motel has been arrested.

According to a news release from the Quincy Police Department, John Mims came to police headquarters and turned himself in on Tuesday for the home invasion and aggravated battery warrant.

The incident happened at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday night at the hotel in the 2300 block of 12th Street. Three men kicked in the door of a room at the hotel and repeatedly struck 21-year-old Jason Peyton with baseball bats.

Peyton was stabbed several times. He was treated and released at Blessing Hospital.

The Quincy Police Department gave only a description of three black males in their 20s. The incident remains under investigation.
