ILLINOIS (AP) -- The Illinois Senate left a lot of issues on the table Thursday as it cancelled a scheduled session for today and adjourned yesterday.

The biggest issue is still pension reform.

Governor Pat Quinn wants the legislature to come up with a fix for the underfunded state pension system before the final day of the General Assembly next Wednesday.

Other unresolved issues before the Senate include bills to curb assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines and a gay marriage bill that hit some unexpected snags.

The House is scheduled to work Sunday through Wednesday of next week.

Senate President John Cullerton told senators to be prepared to come back on Tuesday just in case they are needed after the House session.
