Simple and elegant … these are 2 predominant buzz words for wedding bouquets today.
Roses continue to be the most popular choice but tulips and gerber daisies are strong contenders.
Tropical flowers are popular for contemporary themes as are orchids. And of course, calla lilies never got out of style. Brides continue to get more daring with their color choices
A common thread seems to be “traditional with a contemporary twist.” To achieve this, many of today’s brides are also using rhinestones, crystals or pearls to accent their chosen bouquets, centerpieces and corsages. And especially bold brides are even incorporating feathers with peacock feathers a very popular choice!
Typically some flowers are seasonal. For example, the following are found more readily available ….
Spring:
tulips - hyacinths - blossom - narcissus - daffodils - broom - anemones - muscari – lilac
Summer:
roses - sweetpeas - peonies - sunflowers - hydrangeas - delphiniums - blooms - lily of the valley
Autumn:
amaryllis - snowberry - calla lily - dahlia -celosia - oak leaf – euphorbia - orchids – gerbera
Winter:
ilex berry - skimmia - rose hips - hydrangea heads - eucharis – anthurium
But there are resources that allow many flowers to cross over seasons and availability of certain flowers is not always restricted to a certain time of year. There is now more flexibility than ever before.
Personal taste (and budget!) should dictate the choice of flowers … not necessarily the current “trends” After all, choosing the flowers is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning! And they’re certainly one of main focal points in the wedding and at the reception.
Just for fun …
