Baxter's Vineyards is a small family-owned winery in Nauvoo, Illinois. The winery was established in 1857 by Emile Baxter and continues in the family. Kelly Logan is the fifth generation Baxter to grow grapes and apples. He and his wife Brenda are still producing and bottling Baxter's Old Nauvoo Brand wines. 


Baxter's Vineyards offers free wine tasting & self guided winery tours daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  January through March, we are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Saturday & Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m.

 

Baxter's Vineyards is also home to Carol's Pies, The pies crusts are rolled by hand and Carol makes her own fruit fillings. Carol's Pies are made, baked, and sold exclusively at Baxter's Vineyards. Carol's Pies are the best homemade pies in town!!


Located directly across the street from Baxter's Vineyards is The Nauvoo Grand Bed & Breakfast, Nauvoo's only luxury accommodations managed by Innkeepers Brenda Logan and Kim Orth. The Nauvoo Grand was the home of Cecil & Eleanor Baxter, members of the second generation of Baxter's in the wine industry.

Yes, we grow all of the grapes unless we want a variety that we do not grow for a specific flavor or element in a certain wine.

Yes, we make all of our own wines at Baxter’s Vineyards in the cellar.

Yes, we offer a self-guided tour at anytime during our business hours (9am-5pm Monday – Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.

No, unfortunately to make sure that our customers receive the freshest homemade pie available, we sell whole pies only.  Orders are welcome to ensure that you get the pie you want!!

Yes, we sell Concord Juice and Red, White, Raspberry, and Peach Sparkling Juices.

It depends on the state, we can ship to Illinois, Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia, Wyoming.

Baxter’s Vineyards was established in 1857, making it the Oldest Winery in Illinois and is run by the 5th generation of Baxter’s today!

Answer
We grow 15 acres and make 3,000-5,000 gallons of wine a year.

Are we open Sundays?

Yes, we are open 10am-5pm April-December, and 12 noon – 5pm January-March.
