Restaurants filled up and hotels completely booked
FT. MADISON, IOWA -- Fort Madison isn't a one horse town, well at least for this weekend.
The Tri State Rodeo officially kicked off Wednesday, September 8th in Fort Madison.
And the first day was the highest selling Wednesday in quite a few years for the rodeo.
We spoke with the Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Wednesday afternoon.
They told us this weekend is more than just fun for visitors.
It is a real boost to the local economy.
"Our restaurants are a lot more full this week. There's not a hotel room to be found. There are a lot of people camping so that brings them in to our grocery stores. Of course the gas stations are a little more full so economically, beyond the fun part, economically it's very important and very appreciated in our community," said Sarah Cantrell, Fort Madison Area Chamber Coordinator.
The Tri-State Rodeo runs through Saturday, September 11th.
