LEE COUNTY, IOWA -- A Lee County woman has gotten state-wide attention for her role in local agriculture.
Maryella Johnson of rural Keokuk has earned the 2012 Master Farm Homemaker Award from 'Farm Progress' magazine. Click here to read the full article.
She was chosen because of her life-long work in area agriculture, from working with the Lee County Extension and Farm Service agency to area 4-H clubs.
Her fascination with ag goes back to her roots. Johnson was the first girl allowed to take agriculture classes at Central Lee High School - six years before FFA allowed females in that program.
