Firefighters battle house fire in Quincy

QUINCY, ILL. -- Firefighters in Quincy responded to a house fire near the intersection of 11th and Spruce streets Thursday afternoon. The fire started about 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

A mother, son and dog were evacuated from the home.

Off-duty Quincy Police Detective Eric Johnson happened to drive past the location and called to report the fire. Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 1:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported and a cause of the fire is not known at this time.
