QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy resident Troy E. Cleesen, 44, was charged with manufacture of methamphetamine in federal court in Springfield on Thursday. 

The West Central Illinois Task Force arrested Cleesen at his home on Broadway on November 19th during the service of a search warrant. Authorities seized a shake and bake methamphetamine laboratory and methamphetamine. 

Cleesen was facing charges in state court of aggravated unlawful participation in methamphetamine production and unlawful delivery of methamphetamine. Those state charges were dismissed by Adams County States Attorney Jon Barnard so the case may proceed to federal court. 

Assistant United States Attorney Bryan Freres will be prosecuting the case for the United States Government.

Cleesen has two prior felony convictions and is eligible for a sentence of up to 30 years in the federal bureau of prisons.
