A man charged in a Quincy murder is fit to stand trial.

Vincent Carter is charged in the Jan. 3 shooting death of Terry Williams of Quincy.

His attorney, Chief Public Defender Holly Henze, filed a motion last month to have Carter evaluated to see if he was mentally capable of understanding the court proceedings.

A psychologist found he was mentally competent and his attorney withdrew her motion.

The Quincy Police Department was called to 219 S. 11th St. just after 3 p.m. on January 3rd for reports of the shooting. Williams was shot while Carter fled the scene on foot.

Williams was taken to Blessing Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Quincy Police Department, Adams County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force worked together to locate and apprehend Carter.

Carter is due back in court Feb. 27.
