The future of a historic downtown Quincy hotel is looking better.

The Newcomb Hotel, located at 4th and Maine in Quincy has been vacant for more than 20 years.

In August owner Victor Horowitz was 11-thousand dollars behind on his loan payments to the city.  That's when Mayor John Spring told KHQA the city and the owner reached an agreement, giving the owner 3 months to catch up on those payments.

We talked with Mayor John Spring Monday.  He told KHQA Horowitz has caught up with his payments to the city and is moving forward with his plans.

The mayor said the structure has had a lot of work done to it, in fact, it's 50 percent finished.  But there's still a ways to go.

Horowitz plans to turn the building into an assisted living facility.
