QUINCY, ILL. -- UPDATE: August 15 at 11:19 p.m.

After a four-hour meeting with the Quincy School Board Sunday night, members from the teacher's union have yet to reach a contract agreement.

For weeks, the two groups have passed back and forth new proposals regarding salaries, benefits and insurance.

KHQA spoke with Tom Dickerson, the vice president of the school board, who says, at the moment, the union is looking over a very comprehensive proposal. Dickerson says it's a difficult negotiation and that the board is doing all it can to try and reduce costs to the district.

The next meeting is set for August 25.

More meetings are are in the works for the Quincy School Board and the union that represents the teachers of the district.

We spoke with Tom Dickerson Tuesday morning.

He is the vice president of the school board and is also on the negotiating team.

He says the next meeting is set for Friday, August 6th.

Dickerson says both sides still have to negotiate salaries and benefits.

He says it's a difficult negotiation and that the board is doing all it can to try and reduce costs to the district.
