QUINCY, ILL. -- The Quincy City Council approved a request from the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center to install an electronic message board on a ground-mounted sign.
Last week, the Zoning Board of Appeals discussed the matter at length.
The Board decided to send the request to the Council without a recommendation either way.
The ZBA had voted to deny a similar request from Salem Church, also downtown, this past summer.
The Council disagreed with the ZBA and allowed the sign variance.
The Kroc Center, being built for the Salvation Army, will now feature an 18-square-foot message board at 4th and Broadway to promote the center's events.
