Quincy's Cedar Creek Trail will not get any money from the state of Illinois.

The Quincy Park District applied for an Illinois Transportation Enhancement Project grant to continue that trail all the way to 36th street, it currently ends at 18th.

Quincy is in District 6 which received nearly $7 million in grant funding, but none of that will be heading to Quincy.

Almost $4 million went to Springfield, more than $800,000 went to Jacksonville and nearly $150,000 went to Nauvoo.

"I think what was probably frustrating for us was that we had received a grant about a year ago to finish the engineering work for this segment of the trail, that this grant process was for, and so we were pretty hopeful that one would lead right into the other," said Quincy Park District Executive Director Dan Gibble.

The next step will be for the Board of Commissioners to consider the future of the Cedar Creek Trail project, and figure out where it will look for more funds.
