Canines, handlers, techs to participate in training exercises at WIU

MACOMB, ILL. -- Western Illinois University, working directly with the Office of the Illinois Secretary of State, will serve as a host site for a variety of training exercises for a specially-trained explosives canines, handlers and technicians.

A training demonstration/scenario will be held later this week.

The Secretary of State police and bomb squad technicians have been in consultation with Western officials since the original bomb threat occurred Oct. 25. As a result of previous collaboration, the Illinois Secretary of State has offered and provided the University the use of dogs, handlers and technicians during their stay on campus this week.
