HANNIBAL, MO. -- With Christmas just nine days away, businesses are staying busy with shoppers.

It's the same story for businesses in downtown Hannibal.

We talked with Michael O'Cheltree, the owner of the Native American Trading Company.

He says his business is a kind of barometer for what most downtown Hannibal stores experience economically.

If that trend stays true to past years, he says business is brisk.

O'Cheltree said, "I think the weather has slowed us down a bit, we've had really cold weather here and I think we're running the same or a little ahead of what we were last year. There's places here that you don't see anywhere else. The handmade things and intricate things you can get here are unbelievable."

O'Cheltree says that diversity is a sure reason why he expects folks to flock there for last minute shopping.
