QUINCY, ILL. -- Spring is here and in Quincy, the Dogwood Festival is upon us.

The four-day weekend of events began Thursday with a Photography Show at John Wood Community College and the Little King and Queen Queen of Dogwood Pageant at the Quincy Mall.

On Friday, a series of neighborhood block parties are being held around Quincy sponsored by Y101 and KICK-FM Radio.

Saturday is the biggest event day, chock-full of fun stuff to do.  Make sure you stop everything and attend the parade at 9:30 a.m. (if you're not already in it) ... don't forget to bring your canned food item for the "Operation Serve" collection for local pantries.

From 8 a.m. to noon a Plant Sale is being held at 16th and Jersey by the Quinsippi Garden Club.  Breakfast on the Lawn is at 8:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church at 1415 Maine.

You'll find amusement rides, food entertainment and crafts in Washington Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At noon you can also register to compete in the Tricycle Races at 12:45 p.m. ... they are sponsored by Gem City Kiwanis Club.

There will be more entertainment at 5th and Hampshire from 2 to 4 p.m. and you could always go on a tour on Quinsippi Island with the Friends of the Log Cabins.

You can follow all of that up on Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Dogwood Bowl Flag Football Tourney at Flinn Stadium and more amusement rides, food, entertainment and crafts in Washington Park from noon until 4 p.m.  There will also be entertainment and a Pet Show at 5th and Hampshire from 1 to 3 p.m.

From 1 to 5 p.m. you can find activities at Round Barn, Log Cabin and One-Room Schoolhouse located on Hwy. 336 near the Adams Co. Fairgrounds south of Mendon, Ill.  There you will see an antique tractor display, games, a plant and seed swap, a presentation on heirloom tomatoes and some strawberry shortcake will be served!

You will definitely see KHQA at the parade on Saturday.  We will be walking along with the brand new Kia Soul that we're giving away as part of our Just Let It Ring Campaign.  Click here to find out how to enter to win it!

We want to hear from you!  Will you be at the parade? ... at the block parties?  Post your comments below or visit our Facebook page.
