CLARK COUNTY, MO. -- UPDATE: May 21 at 12:26 p.m.

Clark County Sheriff Paul Gaudette has released more information about the manhunt.

On May 19th, at about 2:15 p.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol Officer got into a pursuit with a pickup truck that had failed to stop for a routine traffic stop on US Highway 136 near Kahoka, Missouri.  Clark County Sheriff's officers and the Missouri State Highway Patrol picked up the chase. The vehicle went through a yard, slowed down, and a passenger exited the vehicle. Timothy William Wrieden of Keokuk, Iowa was taken into custody and transported to the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

The driver continued his attempted escape. According to the Sheriff's Office, a manhunt was then underway. An airplane from the Missouri State Highway Patrol was called in. The search went on for more than 6 hours by air and ground. The search was called off before dark. 

Derek Alexander Westwater of Fort Wayne, Indiana was arrested Friday. Both suspects are held at the Clark County Sheriff's Office on a $100,000 cash only bond for distribution/deliver/manufacture/produce or attempt to or possess with intent to distribute/deliver/manufacture/produce a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia (methamphetamine), awaiting there appearance in court.

UPDATE: May 20 at 5:03 a.m.

We have received notice from Clark County Sheriff Paul Gaudette that no further information will be released at this time.

But he does want the public to know that there is no threat or danger to the community.

The incident is still under investigation and Sheriff Gaudette says more information will be made available when that is done

UPDATE: May 19 at 9:15 p.m.

The manhunt in Clark County has come to a close.

KHQA confirmed with the Clark County Sheriff's Department just before 9:00 p.m. Thursday that the second suspect had been caught.

UPDATED: May 19 at 5:15 p.m.

A manhunt is underway in Clark County.

Here's what KHQA found out from the Clark County Sheriff's Department.

A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over a vehicle heading south on Highway 81 from Kahoka.

The vehicle pulled off on a gravel road.

Then, two white men got out of the vehicle and ran away.

One of the men is in custody, but authorities still are looking for the other man.

A manhunt is underway in Clark County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol didn't have a lot of details at this time, but this is what we do know.

A trooper tried to pull someone over when the driver of the vehicle got out and ran away.

No description of the suspect is available at this time, but KHQA will keep you updated just as soon as more information becomes available.
