Authorities respond to two separate crashes within miles

QUINCY, ILL. -- Two adults and one child are in stable condition at Blessing Hospital Tuesday evening after a two car accident on Gardner Expressway.

A family in one vehicle was headed north on Hwy 57 when another vehicle turning onto 57 collided with them at the Turtle Lake Road intersection. The three people taken to the hospital were from the same car. Passengers from the other vehicle refused treatment. Ariel Mehochko, 19, was arrested and charged with failure to yield and/or stop at an intersection.

Meanwhile, Air Evac responded to a separate accident at the same time just south of 57 on Highway 172 sending Matthew Painter, 33, to the hospital.  Authorities say Painter lost control of his car hitting the guardrail on the left side and then came to a stop in an embankment. He was charged with failure to reduce speed.
