In our Facebook Story of the Day for August 1, you'll see that sheriffs and deputies are people too, and apparently their private info is vulnerable.

Matt Tarnawa with CentralMoInfo.com reports that a computer hacking group has apparently hacked numerous law enforcement websites, including the site of the Missouri Sheriff's Association, and is posting the personal information of 7,000 sheriffs and sheriffs' deputies online.

The computer hackers known as AntiSec come from an online vigilante group known as Anonymous and from the disbanded Lulz Security.

They have posted names, social security numbers, and other personal information of law enforcement officers across the state of Missouri, including some in North Missouri and they say that they have much more to possibly still post.

Authorities don't know when the hacking took place, but more than 70 law enforcement sites were hacked as retribution for hacker arrests.

CentralMoInfo.com states that "antisec" presumably stands for anti-security, a movement in the hacker community that is against computer security systems and strives for full disclosure of information.

Missouri Sheriff's Association Executive Director Mick Covington tells KHQA that the most the hackers got from their organization were email addresses.  Contrary to AntiSec's announcement, there were no critical details like names, social security numbers or other personal information details on their server that was hacked.

The Missouri Sheriffs' Association website, mosheriffs.com, is still unable to load following the attack.  The server is hosted by Brooke Jefferies out of Arkansas and they are currently working to get the site back up and running and will handle increased security on the website.
