KEOKUK, IOWA -- Updated: May3, 2012 at 6:45 a.m.

The trial for a Keokuk man charged with killing his mother has been delayed.

Adam Pitman will now face a jury in July instead of later this month.

Pitman faces a first-degree murder charge for allegedly strangling his mother, 46-year-old Rosa Pitman, who was found dead in her home on Concert St. by Keokuk police officers last August.

The Keokuk man accused of killing his mother last year wants to block some evidence from his murder trial.

Adam Pitman of Keokuk is accused of strangling his mother, Rosa Pitman, at their Concert street home in August.

Authorities say he admitted to the killing during a traffic stop.

According to Tri-State Public Radio, lawyers for Pitman are trying to get his statements to police at that time dismissed from his trial.

He'll face charges during a jury trial May 22.

The man accused of killing his mother on August 30, pled not guilty to first-degree murder Monday morning.

Police say Pitman strangled his mother at their home on Concert Street in Keokuk.

Pitman could face a life sentence if convicted.

A Keokuk man will be arraigned next week in the death of his mother.

23-year-old Adam Pitman is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 46-year-old Rosa Pitman.

A hearing is set for Oct. 10.

Pitman was arrested during an Aug. 30 traffic stop in Fort Madison. During the stop, police say, Pitman told the officer he had killed his mother and that they should go to the home he shared with her in Keokuk. Court records show that police found the body of Rosa Pitman inside the home with an electrical cord around her throat.

Adam Pitman is being held in the Lee County jail on $2 million.

He could face a life sentence if convicted.

A Keokuk man was charged with 1st degree murder for allegedly killing his mother.  Adam Pitman was arraigned in court Wednesday.

An Iowa State Medical Examiner says Rosa Pitman was strangled in her Keokuk home.

23-year-old Adam Pitman was stopped in Fort Madison early Tuesday morning for a car with no tail lights.

Police say he admitted to killing his mother, Rosa Pitman at her home.

Keokuk police officers checked out a residence on Concert Street, and found Rosa Pitman dead inside.

The state Crime Lab was called in to help with the investigation.

If convicted, Pitman could face life in prison without parole.
