LEWIS COUNTY, MO. -- A Hannibal man was arrested for an alleged asphalt scam in Lewis County.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office started investigating a complaint on August 25.
Michael Glenn Maddox was arrested in Berrien County, Michigan as a result of that investigation.
He was transported back to Lewis County Monday after waiving extradition.
Maddox is accused of defrauding an elderly couple through asphalt work.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office reminds residents to be aware of potential scams regarding asphalting and other forms of paving and construction work.
The criminals usually prey on senior citizens for many reasons ... oftentimes seniors have cash on hand and it makes them easy targets.
If anyone comes to your door unsolicited, contact authorities immediately.
