QUINCY, ILL. -- It's starting off to be another successful weekend for the Samantha Otte Youth Opportunity Fund in Quincy.

The 12th annual Sammy Fun Run Walk was Saturday morning at Madison Park in Quincy.

The event takes runners and walkers through one of the more beautiful parts of Quincy.

The money raised supports local youth organizations.

It was started after Samantha Otte died from complications of a liver transplant when she was just nine years old.

To date more than 450 thousand dollars has been donated to the Sammy Fund.

Hopes are to top 500 thousand this year.

Samantha's dad, Chuck Otte, said, "I think we're going to have about 250 walkers and runners and the weather's just beautiful. We are just thrilled by the support the community gives us. Not only for the walk run but all of our of our events this weekend. It's fantastic."

The fund raising continues Sunday with a golf tournament and silent auction.
