QUINCY, ILL. -- The need for food assistance continues to grow throughout Adams County. That means more food pantries and emergency shelters are needing help stocking their shelves. You can help, by providing families with one of the most valuable sources of nutrition: meat.

Deer hunters who donate their tagged deer to the Salvation Army will receive free processing during the bow/gun season, from October 1 through mid January. You can take your deer to the Butcher Block at 819 Maine Street in Quincy or the Golden Locker at 706 Wendell Street in Golden during regular store hours.

The Salvation Army will then distribute the meat to the pantries and shelters in need.
