PIKE COUNTY, ILL. -- The deadline to object to a proposed conceal and carry initiative in Pike County, Illinois is Tuesday.

Pike County residents Dan Mefford and Rick Rodhouse say they are tired of waiting for state legislators to make a move on the issue, so they're going around them.

Last month, they petitioned for the right to carry a gun to be put on the county ballot next March.

The petition will be available for public review in the clerk's office, and any objections must be filed by Dec. 27.

If no one objects to the conceal and carry, the matter will be taken up with the courts before it's allowed within the county.
