Police catch wanted man after early morning chase

QUINCY, ILL. -- A wanted man led police on a chase on the Quincy's west side early Friday morning.

Around 3 a.m., Quincy police spotted 38-year-old Ronald Johnson near sixth and Vermont. Officers knew Johnson was wanted on warrants from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

When officers attempted to arrest him, Johnson ran away.

He led police on a foot chase until officers caught him on Spring Street. During a struggle with police, Johnson hit an officer.

He now faces charges in Illinois of aggravated battery to a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Johnson is now in the Adams County Jail.
