QUINCY, ILL. -- Marathon runners and rowers made their way to the Quincy Family YMCA Saturday.

The Y hosted a Group Fitness Mini-Marathon and Indo-Row Tournament to find who was most in shape. Participants in the marathon were able to join a schedule of group fitness classes for three hours.

Classes included punk rope, yoga, and an outdoor fun run. The rowing tournament was double elimination and featured 100-meter relays. Both events were geared toward family fitness, something YMCA officials believe is important.

"We always like for kids and families and adults alike to try new things, to be involved as a family unit and to have fitness be a life style," said Amy Earnest, the development director with the Quincy YMCA.

All proceeds from the mini-marathon and indo-row tournament will benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. The campaign supports youth development programs and provides financial assistance for youth and families.
