The problem of poverty in Missouri was front and center in Jefferson City Thursday.
NECAC joined other groups to raise awareness of the issue at the state capital.
The groups marched to encourage lawmakers to take a serious look at the problem and make some much needed changes.
More than 90 thousand people in Missouri live in poverty.
Brent Engel from NECAC says that the group was especially concerned about cuts in healthcare, housing and education.
The group says that reforms are needed in those three areas.
The group also urged lawmakers to create more jobs and put a cap on payday loans rates.
