Keokuk superintendent turns in resignation

KEOKUK, IOWA -- Updated: May 16 at 8 a.m.

The Keokuk School Board is getting help in its search for a new superintendent.

Board members have agreed to hire a professional search firm to help in the hiring process.

This according to Tri-State Public Radio.

Board members hope to have a new superintendent in place before school starts this fall.

You'll recall Keokuk's current superintendent Doctor Lora Wolff is stepping down in June to take a teaching position at Western Illinois University.

KHQA has learned that current Keokuk school superintendent Dr. Lora Wolff turned in her resignation to the Keokuk School Board Friday afternoon.

Wolf confirmed with KHQA Friday evening that she has accepted a teaching position at WIU.

She says she will finish out her contract which ends on June 30th.

She expects the school board to officially accept her resignation at its regular meeting on May 21st. At that time a transition program will be put in place.

Dr. Wolff started out 28 years ago as a teacher and she says she wants end her career doing what she loves.

She will be teaching and training future principals and superintendents in the Education Leadership department at WIU. She starts in mid-august.
