A wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of the man who was killed on the Champ Clark Bridge was moved to a federal court.

Stark Brothers Nurseries executive Kyle Brown died after his sport utility vehicle was hit by cargo that broke loose from a truck driven by Kenneth Davis last December.

The lawsuit has been moved from Saint Charles Circuit Court to the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Missouri.

Damage from the accident forced the 84-year-old bridge to be shut down for 6 hours.

The family wants a jury trial and damages in excess of $75,000.

In an answer to his lawsuit, Davis' attorney says any award to the Brown family should be reduced because Brown may have shared some of the blame in the fatal crash.
