KEOKUK, IOWA -- Keokuk police continue to investigate a shooting that took place at 1103 Bank Street, in Keokuk Saturday night.

Police Chief Dave Hinton said the initial caller reported an assault in progress at that location just after 11:30 p.m. Upon the officers arrival, witnesses informed them that someone had been shot.

The victim, 26-year-old Tim Mondon, received a bullet wound to the leg with a 12-gauge shot gun. The suspect,18-year-old Colton Dobson was charged with willful injury, punishable up to 10 years in prison, a Class C felony.

Dobson was arrested without incident at the scene and taken to the Lee County Jail.

Details of case, specific to the shooting, are not being released as the investigation continues.
