QUINCY, ILL. -- There's a new restaurant for lunch and dinner in Quincy.

2thirty4 Restaurant and Bar opens for business at 234 North 12th Street Tuesday.

It's the site of the former Sydney's Café and My Koog bakery.

Kelley Basinger, owner and executive chef, says the eatery will feature new American cuisine with French and Mediterranean influences.

The eatery will be open Tuesday through Saturday, serving lunch and dinner.

Basinger received her formal training at Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Program at Brown College in Minnesota, with emphasis on classic French cuisine. She has more than 14 years of experience in the restaurant business and was head chef at Jorge the Crook's in Quincy.

She plans to use fresh, local ingredients in her cooking.
