BEARDSTOWN, ILL. -- A Beardstown church is reaching out to immigrants in the community.

The Cass County Star Gazette reports that the Beardstown First Evangelical Lutheran Church is hosting an immigration and citizenship workshop.

The event is open to legal residents who would like to find out how to become a U.S. citizen.

It is open to anyone who has lived in the U.S and had a green card for at least 4 1/2 years.

Attorneys also will be available to answer questions.

The workshop will be on Sunday July 29 at the Beardstown First Evangelical Lutheran Church at 301 W. 4th Street.

It will run from 3- 5 p.m.
