QUINCY, ILL. -- You might see the familiar red kettles out and about in the community next week. But the Salvation Army isn't just collecting money.

This year is the first ever "We need your time, not just your dime campaign."

The red kettles will be out so you can drop off your business card.

The Salvation Army is trying to fill the more than six-thousand man hours needed to ring bells at all kettle sites in the Quincy and Hannibal areas during the months of November and December.

The campaign will take place July 24, 25 & 26, 2012, at both County Market stores (Broadway and 24th Street), Walmart and Farm & Home Supply in Quincy. We will also be ringing our bells at County Market and Walmart in Hannibal.

Each location will have someone attending our kettles from noon until 7 p.m. all three days.

"We need volunteers to help us to man the kettles," Patty Douglas with the Salvation Army said. "We don't have enough people to do that, so we appreciate people from the community stepping up, and lending us a hand."

You can also sign up to volunteer at www.ringbells.org, email alisa_elkins@usc.salvationarmy.org or simply call Alisa Elkins at 217-231-5633.
