QUINCY, ILL. -- Friday, July 27 appears to be the last day of business for the South Side Boat Club in Quincy, Illinois.
The club's financial secretary Ronald Kooken told KHQA last week that they are approaching the end of their reserves. "We just can't afford to maintain it,” Kooken said.
Club board members will discuss the future of the organization at its meeting July 27.
Boat club President Paulette Cleary released a statement Friday, July 20 that said: "At this time, South Side Boat Club has experienced a steady decline in membership which, in turn, has led to a decline in business."
"All current members have been sent notice of meeting to be held on July 27 to vote and determine what options are available and how we should proceed. At this point, the club is planning to honor current commitments through Sept. 16," he said.
KHQA will bring you more coverage from tonight's meeting.
