MARION AND RALLS CO., MO. -- Buses are parked at the Hannibal Walmart, the Palmyra County Market and the New London Dollar General Store and that tells us that back-to-school season is upon us.

Many children in Northeast Missouri don't have the necessary school supplies to begin the school year.

Please join in and “Stuff the Bus” with vital school supplies.

The bus at the Hannibal Walmart will be there from July 27 through August 5. In Palmyra, the bus will be at the County Market from July 27 through August 1. Last but not least, the bus will be at the New London  Dollar General Store from August 2 through August 4.  These stores will also have barrels inside that customers can use to donate school supplies the entire week and throughout the Missouri tax free holiday weekend.

The top ten supply items most children need in the area are:  Pencils, Pens, Glue, Loose Leaf Paper, Notebooks, Folders, Rulers, Erasers, Crayola Classic Markers and 24 ct. Crayons.  All types of supplies are accepted in this supply drive!

Supplies can also be dropped at the FACT office at #4 Melgrove Lane in Hannibal between the hours of 8-3 or by appointment by calling FACT at 573-221-2285.

The Stuff the Bus event is in addition to the Back To School Health Fair which is being held at the Hannibal Medical Campus on August 4 from 7-11 a.m.  Last year the Health Fair served more than 1,000 children and their families. This year, an anticipated 1,500 children will receive free health, dental, hearing and vision assessments, and free backpacks. There will also be a demonstration by Cindy Powell’s ATA students.

This event is sponsored in part by:  FACT, Douglas Community Services, Walmart, Palmyra County Market, New London Dollar General, and many other community partners.

For more information, please call FACT at 573-221-2285.
