QUINCY, ILL. -- Diamonds took the spotlight Saturday for a special Girl Scouts fundraiser in Quincy. The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois hosted its sixth annual Diamonds Event at Dame Hurdle and Company.
The evening kicked off with music, hors d’oeuvres and a raffle for a $4,000 diamond pendant.
But the spotlight soon turned to the evening's honoree, Patti McNay, for being a role model and leader for young women.
"I have always done things with Girl Scouting that I love to do and never spent a moment with any of the kids that wasn't my pleasure to be there with them. And to be honored for doing something that you've loved every minute of, it's awesome. I'm very excited about that," McNay said.
Funds raised from the Diamonds Event will benefit local Girl Scouts who are part of Girl Scouts of Central Illinois. One event ticket will provide four girls who have a financial need with a free Girl Scout membership. Two event tickets will provide 10 girls with the opportunity to participate in a council-sponsored event, trip, or program.
