QUINCY, ILL. -- Former Quincy Notre Dame principal Ray Heilmann accepted a position as director of student teaching and off-campus studies for Quincy University's School of Education.

In his new roll, Heilmann will oversee the placement and supervision of student teaching candidates, as well as coordinate training for cooperating teachers and university supervisors. As the director of off-campus studies, he will coordinate both the alternative certification and traditional preparation programs for teacher candidates in the Chicago area.

“The Quincy University School of Education is honored to have Ray Heilmann join our staff,” dead Dr. Ann Behrens said. “Mr. Heilmann's many years of experience as a leader in the field of education make him an ideal choice to train the next generation of outstanding educators.”

Heilmann spent 39 years at Quincy Notre Dame where he served at various times as an English teacher, assistant football coach, assistant principal, and principal from 1995 until his retirement earlier this summer.

“To be able to serve a Catholic high school and a Catholic university in my educational career is an incredible honor,” Heilmann said. “I have friends, both professionally and socially, who are graduates and employees of Quincy University.  The spirit, family atmosphere, and collegial support are outstanding.  I hope, with the mentoring of Dr. Ann Behrens and other members of the QU staff, to serve QU students in the best way possible.”
