QUINCY, ILL. -- Later this month marks the one year anniversary of a tragic boating accident on the Mississippi.

John Flaiz is still missing from the accident.

His family and friends are keeping his memory alive this weekend with a sand volleyball tournament.

There are 16 teams competing.

You are invited to come and show your support and share your memories of John.

"The money goes towards the Quincy Salvation Army food pantry. They were the ones who fed us last summer  when the accident happened for about ten days, breakfast, lunch and dinner," Flaiz's fiance Michelle Terwelp said. "And we just want to show how much it meant to us and a way to give back to them."

The tournament is Saturday at the Grove Inn in Quincy. It starts at 8 a.m.

This is the second volleyball tournament in Flaiz's memory. The YMCA hosted one earlier in the year. Proceeds from that went to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
