QUINCY, ILL. -- Here's a KHQA Safe Family crime alert from the Quincy Police Department.
Recently, residents have been contacted by individuals going door to door stating they are with Ameren.
The scam artists say they're conducting surveys about electricity costs and that they have been authorized by the City of Quincy to complete these surveys.
Neither Ameren nor the city is conducting surveys about electricity use.
Quincy police say ask to see the salespersons peddlers' license and if they cannot produce one, close the door and call police.
