Semi hits, kills Macomb man on bicycle

MACOMB, ILL. -- A semi struck and killed a Macomb man Friday afternoon near the 1100 block of East Jackson Street.

Nicholas Foxall, 24, was riding his bike, traveling southbound on Bonham St.

According to McDonough County Coroner Eric Jameson, Foxall lost control of his bike after making a right hand turn onto the sidewalk of East Jackson St. Foxall landed in the roadway where he was struck by a trailer of on oncoming semi-truck.

"There was nothing the truck driver could have done to avoid it," Jameson said. "It was a freak accident."

Foxall was pronounced dead at the scene.
