GRIGGSVILLE, ILL. -- Prom night may be far away, but it is never too early to envision the show stopper every teenage girl desires. One downside is the effect it can have on your pocket book. Griggsville-Perry High School parents held a prom dress resell to give some of these young women a more affordable prom night attire.
Dresses sold at the event were brought in from Pike County residents. 318 dresses were available at the resell. The previous owner of the dress decided the price of their dress. The prices ranged from $15 to $300.
Ten percent of each dress sale went towards a group called "After Prom." This group is responsible for organizing a safe after party on prom night each year. This year, the goal is to raise $5,000 and have the students attend a night at Scottie's Fun Spot in Quincy.
The dress resell was a part of an event called Extravaganza along with a number of other vendors. Vendors who held a booth at the school had to pay a twenty dollar fee, which will go toward a senior trip for the high school.
