QUINCY, ILL. -- One in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. A local racing company in Quincy is hoping to give support to those women with a dash of pink on the race track.

Taylor Lear and his father Jon organized a fundraiser Saturday night at the North Side Boat Club. Dozens of people turned out for food and live music.

The Lear Racing team hoped to raise free will donations to help the ten thousand women who go through the Blessing Breast Center each year.

Breast cancer has hit the Lear Family hard the last six months. The diagnosis of Taylor's aunt gave him the idea to decorate his family race cars pink this year.

"We've been touched by it. It's inspired all of us to not give up," Taylor Lear said.

"Each time that car hits the race track or even travels down Broadway in the trailer, we want people to see it and think of breast cancer awareness," Jon Lear said.

"It just shows how, not only is the woman affected by breast cancer, but the entire family, all the way down to the spouse, to the nephew like Taylor is. It's just amazing," Lori Wilkey, with Blessing Breast Center, said.

The body to one of the Lear race cars stood on display just outside of the boat club Saturday night. It will hit the track the first week of April in Quincy.

The Lear Family plans to give ten percent of their winnings to Blessing Breast Center at the end of the year.
